Pradip Sarkar is a veteran artist with over 40 exhibitions to his credit. His work revolves around the spiritual and cultural aspects of the Indian society, where he blends in his philosophy of life, his learnings and his leanings towards music and harmony. 

The artist has a pro-active approach to societal dealings and draws inspiration from the spiritual knowledge – firmly entrenched in the belief that everyone is a unique creation and one must draw from him the essence of his spirit. As a keen observer, Pradip Sarkar acknowledges the different states of being – neglect, delight, depression, elation… and works his canvases with the voices and emotions that prove to be the driving force at such junctures of life, when emotions run high.

His philosophy and observation become the subjects of his canvases as he plays with boxed forms, often composing his figures – mainly their visages – around geometric forms in a layered application. His palette is warm, inviting and vivifying. Music forms an intrinsic aspect of almost every canvas – with or without a face. 

His brush strokes speak of serenity, soothing hues and a characteristic vibrancy that symbolises a frenetic pace and multitude of life’s elements. Stylised limbs intrigue as do exaggerated forms – compelling the viewer to dwell on the painting and perhaps, get inside its skin!
