Young and raring to go, Alistan Dias in his debut solo show establishes one fact – that he is a nature lover and paints out of the sheer need to share all things beautiful.

Working with watercolours as it is the most difficult medium, he purports to rise up to the challenge of capturing memorable vistas through his works. Green is a colour he especially gravitates to… but his choices keep changing and his current penchant is all shades of brown. Another soft corner is reserved for Ultramarine blue, which takes to paper as and when the artist fancies!

It’s intriguing to see this young artist’s experimentation with different papers to arrive at vivid results. He uses fine grain Canson to rough hand-made and the Chitrapat fine-grained paper to stoke his muse. Using techniques appropriate to the respective papers, he paints dales and hilltops, the horizon and faraway people… all emerging and receding into picturesque nature – depicting serenity.
A must-see show for its delicate rendering in both – thought and hand.
