8th Oct. - 18th Oct. 2018: Pradarshak presents Mix medium abstract paintings by Archana Tanna
Her background in textile design drives a layered approach as young artist Archana Tanna plays with colours – literally. “I begin by throwing colours on canvas and they take shape spontaneously as impulse, energy, chaos and my inherent passion for playing with them culminates into a painting,” informs the artist.
Exhibiting in a solo show, Archana is showcasing her characteristic mix medium works of art, which she attributes to her penchant for textures. So, one can see oil, ink, acrylic applied in various techniques – sometimes layered as much as 16-20 times to evolve into what she envisages as her complete work.

A distinctive characteristic of her paintings is her way with words. Archana tends to write out on each of her paintings her state of mind – through maybe one or many words. These maybe in English, Sanskrit, Hindi or even Arabic depending on her mood and inclination. So, it is customary to find a word peeing out here or a single letter showing up there or maybe all letters camouflaged under the layered thoughts of her strokes, lost in the ultimate seas of resolute abstraction.
“My dreams, feelings and memories reflect on my canvas, colours being my driving force. My use of intense colours allows me to communicate opposing themes such as calmness and energy,” concludes Archana.
