On view at Pradarshak - “Wilderness” by Vishwajeet Naik

21st May – 2nd June.’12: Pradarshak presents "Wilderness” by Vishwajeet Naik. Click here to view the album.

"Wilderness" is based on the representation of birds as seen in the Indian sub-continent. Using acrylic on canvas, artist Vishwajeet Naik depicts birds and their habitats in near-realistic portrayal. His canvases are the result of his forays into bird-watching and photography. Being a naturalist tells on the artist as he simultaneously exhibits a few paintings from his series, “Birds of Wire”, which is an interesting combination of installation, mural and painting all wrapped in one and a subtle attempt to call the layman’s attention to the dangers of the urbane world that plague our feathered friends.

.

Through bright brush strokes and close to real representation of birds against abstract backgrounds, the aim is to introduce the beauty of these birds to a discerning audience while striving for their conservation.
