About Karishma Wadhwa's art:
Karishma is a Mumbai-based artist with a penchant for connectivity. Highly spiritual, she believes that everything and everyone is connected. This belief is also the mainstay of her paintings, where she depicts bustling cities.
She paints her versions of cityscapes using a vibrant colour palette and brisk palette-knife strokes, creating clusters that are dotted with individuality and identity, and randomly parted to meet again; perhaps, in another land, another time. Karishma envisages cities in their unique character through her play of forms and colours. Depicted through a vista of structures, the cityscape visualises a sense of belonging, hope, dreams, and ambitions. Her signature collection of paintings “Opus” are cityscape-compositions set on a large scale.
With little formal education in fine art, the artist has honed her way, having gradually matured from figurative paintings to abstraction, from acrylics, and watercolours to oil. Colours play an important role in her paintings, and the use of each colour has its distinct significance and depicts different moods and thoughts. Opus draws inspiration from her travels across the world.
Enveloped in colours, Opus manifests a personal process. It also invites the viewers to experience it, interpret it and personalise it in relation to their own journeys.
