Kaleidoscope - an Online Solo Exhibition of Abstract Paintings

Show unveiling on 04th February 2021 at 10.00am

About Srushti Rao's art:

Srushti Rao is an emerging visual artist having held several solo and group exhibitions, both in India and overseas.

“Art comes naturally to me,” says the artist, whose innate drive to create and paint conjures up linear representational forms. “The lines represent the 'lifeline' of my thoughts; I have always visualized painting in this form,” informs Srushti, who has been awarded the Bharat Nirman (Build India) Award for contribution in the field of Art in 2015 in the emerging artist category. Srushti believes in taking creative risks and producing magnificent pieces of art.

“Life is complicated, and I like to simplify things, compartmentalize and action them sequentially,” she continues. Maybe it is that subconscious personality trait that gets reflected in her painting style as she dabbles with portraits, figures, compositions, and the current characteristic ‘line-work’ abstraction.

As a contemporary woman raised in the culturally rich country of India, the artist sees herself as a global citizen, who is inherently Indian, dealing with the dilemma of a modern upbringing, but a deep-rooted sense of 'lndian-ness'. A thinking creative, the artist seems in a constant flux, juxtaposing her personal beliefs with expected societal norms and attempting to lap up her life experiences – the good, the bad, the ugly and the thought provoking - via her art.

Her brisk brushwork and vivid hues have an engaging quality that tends to reach out to the viewer, holding his gaze and leaving him transfixed in a vortex that transposes him into another world, each time.
