16thJan- 25th Jan. 2017: Pradarshak presents “Running Thread” Debut Solo Exhibition by Ashwini Jadhav

“My works belongs to my surrounding, nature, human life and daily routine,” says this young debutante artist, Ashwini Jadhav. Applying her aesthetics as an artist to her skills with patchwork, this young girl merges the two creative interests into bespoke works of art, presenting the viewers with “stitched paintings”.

With a patrimonial legacy of sewing, surrounded by colourful clothes since childhood, Ashwini has been experimenting with swatches -  cutting out different shapes, forms, examining and playing with textures and consequently, making myriad compositions.

“I draw and paint with shapes of clothes. It’s a new vision for me to work in a novel and different medium,” she informs.

The artist shows promise in her experimentation. Her work has been well received in the several group exhibitions she has held. Only time will tell how far and out-of-box she can take this unique craft/art in a milieu of accepted conventional fine art.
