Apples & Silver Pot in Poster Colour & Acrylic on Boxboard by Mayur Pawar |
4th –
14th Aug’14: Pradarshak presents Vidyarthi Vishesh Phase III -
Drawings & Still Life by Student Artists.
Still life paintings are simply magical. The artist shows us his point
of view in such a creative manner that it leaves the audience imagining how the
real object would be. The student artists’ approach is fresh – a novel way of
looking at the ordinary object and their works of art then reflect that idea in
paint, ink, pastels or oil colour on either paper or canvas.

Similarly Drawings are a strong medium of communication that the artists
use to translate their thoughts, ideas into visual expression. Their tools are
similar to that for paintings - graphite
pencils, pen and ink, inked brushes, wax colour pencils, crayons, charcoal,
chalk, pastels…

Yet the rendition is distinct. There are various
methods – stippling, line drawing, shading, etc that are employed to depict the
depth and tone of the visual. Many a time a monochromatic drawing is more
potent than the most colourful painting. Such is the impact of the artistic
vision in black and white!
Students exhibiting their drawing skills
are: Prathamesh Khanvilkar, Kamalesh Salaskar, Abhijeet Ghodvinde and Yashas Jayanti among others.
