30thJan- 10th Feb. 2017: Pradarshak presents “Reminiscence” Debut Solo Exhibition by Shilpa Pachpor

“Every artist knows when she experiences something new; and the effect that her experiences have on shaping her destiny,” says Shilpa Pachpor as she debuts with her paintings, predominantly inspired by her penchant and preoccupation with the beauty and tranquility of the Western Ghats.

“It is always a surprise to see what happens, when I get out of my own way,” she continues; explaining how a simple thought or idea seeds the concept of a painting, moving on to surprise even the artist.

A vibrant though slightly muted palette characterizes the deconstruction of the Konkan Ghats’ landscape into simpler picturesque elements of form, colour, line and space. A pleasing aesthetic evolves juxtaposing transparency with opacity; symbolic representations with found-examples of nature… carefully cradling the ethos and identity of the region in a partially evocative and partially philosophic narrative.

The rooster – symbolic of a new beginning; the snail… the spiral… symbols of progress in life; the turtle that teaches us to walk our path in peace and adhere to it with determination and serenity… are some concepts that deal with symbolism consciousness, evolution, and expansion of life.

Shilpa’s canvases depict the promise of positivity; with the narrative totally in sync with the artist’s maturity; one can hope to see the debutante make deeper forays in the future
