11th Feb.’13 – 23rd Feb.’13 : Pradarshak presents Debut Solo Exhibition of Graphic Prints by Yogesh Aadkine.

Presenting its 4th debutante artist for 2013, gallery Pradarshak introduces Yogesh Aadkine from Nagpur, who has been honing his skills in printmaking for the last 5-6 years.

Print making as compared to painting is equally challenging and to a large extent tries the visualization skills of the artist to a greater extent. Mistakes cannot be camouflaged or worked upon. Instead, the whole process has to be redone.

Rest to Restless

With global shifts in the perception and outlook on traditional printmaking, and the growing appreciation for digital printmaking, is indeed working in favour of this discipline of fine art.

Coming to Yogesh Aadkine’s work, his prints are generally based on the immediate social fabric that envelopes the artist and his lifestyle, showcasing a blend of commonly found everyday objects accompanied by an introverted monologue. The dialogue is underlined via a deep respect for free thinking, represented through characteristic spaces in each print – something that the artist politically calls, ‘breathing space’.

“I try to strike a balance with simple compositions. Using soft colours I draw thick, thin, vertical, horizontal, negative and positive lines for balancing. I mostly use raw umber, black, orange, yellow ochre, cobalt blue colours in my work," says Yogesh.

The prints strike a chord of intrigue with the titles guiding one to look deeper into the treatment and rendition of the artist’s musings.

A beautiful show; more so since the imagery is depicted through printmaking and not paintings.

  8. Printmaking as a medium for communication has its own uniqueness in the art form. The technicalities associated with the craft are what a printmaker has to learn and excel with due diligence. Yogesh Aadkine's works manifest that special skill acquired by him at a young age. His subjects are simple and have been drawn from our daily life. The tonal effects of the works are captivating. We get attracted easily. Aadkine must be complemented for his experiment with the blend of shadows and symbols handled with deft and perfection. That too captured in prints!
