On view at Pradarshak - “Mindscapes” – abstract landscapes by Kailas Hyalij.

12th Mar – 24th Mar.’12: Pradarshak presents “Mindscapes” – abstract landscapes by Kailas Hyalij.

Artist Kailas Hyalij from Nashik paints nature with the squeegee; its horizontal strokes creating layered contours reminiscent of hillside landscapes.

Adept at the watercolour and acrylic mediums on paper as well as canvas, the artistic highlight of his paintings is the depiction of the horizon.  Flexible in his choice of hues, Kailas creates hillside and mountain perspectives that swerve from being serene in umber, sienna, sepia and taupe hues to vivacious in azure and cerulean blues, burnt oranges and apple and dark cyan greens.

“My connect is the beauty that I perceive in nature. I begin a painting with a preoccupation with my palette. Gradually forms emerge and a landscape close to my heart takes shape,” informs Kailas.

His works are predominantly small in sizes – ranging from 9” x 9” to 12” x 12” on paper and canvas, creating a range of scenic vistas for one to engage with. This is the artist’s 4th solo exhibition.
